Washing Machine Mold Surprise

Friday March 21, 2014 at 1:22 pm
This past week my wife and I noticed a consistent mold smell in our laundry room. Over the past couple of months I could also smell a hint of mold in some of our loads of laundry as well, so I decided to take a peek into the issue. To be honest, I was very surprised…and a bit disgusted, as to what I found in the bellow ( the rubber gasket on the front of the washing drum). After peeling back a fold in the gasket a slimy ring of mold had embedded itself into the rubber. When I say that it was e... Read more →

A Friend For Life

Tuesday August 06, 2013 at 8:53 pm
This is Jaden. He is 5 years old. His grandmother and mom live across the street from me. Over the past year and a half Chumley Construction has been rebuilding fences throughout our community and he has watched as the big trucks delivering materials go rolling by, and has watched from a distance as our crew works digging holes, setting posts, and nailing up cedar pickets. This past month he was bold enough to ring my door bell and ask, " Hey Joe, can I help build the fence next... Read more →

This coming summer we’re taking on more and more projects… Building more and more quality relationships with our clients, fellow workers, family and friends… I heard this story while listening to an audiobook. You may be asking yourself, “what on earth does this have to do with construction?!” Well, you’re right! I may not be talking about 2x4s, doors, trim or roofing. But after reading the story below, you’ll see why we take what we do so seriously. We don’t want to be ave... Read more →

Life Long Learner

Tuesday March 19, 2013 at 2:05 pm
Just this past week Chumley Construction had an opportunity to get out a bit and stretch our horizons with a trip to Phoenix, AZ! Yes, this would’ve been a great vacation (especially during this time of year in Western Washington State!) but we actually had the privilege of visiting an exciting custom window and door manufacturing facility for some hands on training. We were so thoroughly impressed, we just had to share our excitement here and tell you a little bit more about our experienc... Read more →

What is Quality?

Monday January 07, 2013 at 11:56 am
As per usual, our blog posts won’t necessarily be exclusively “construction” related… the same is true this time with a topic that dropped into my head this evening, “Quality, what exactly does that mean today?” Now with that kind of question this blog could go any number of directions but for the purpose of holding your attention here, I’ll make it short and sweet! Have you noticed that our society as a whole tends to first look for the ‘cheap deal’? You search up an it... Read more →

Cheers to 2013! What is it about a New Year that gets folks excited? A fresh start or “new beginnings”… am I right? For some reason, as ridiculous as it seems…just by flipping the calendar you imagine yourself as being a brand new person. Of course, in a way you are, every day offers its new opportunities. May be for you it’s the closing of a chapter that means more to you this time around. As much as I hope 2012 was a fabulous year for you, it may have been a difficult year for... Read more →

DIY: Winterizing Your Pipes

Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 11:17 pm
The Winter is the hardest time of the year for homes and apartment pipes, ducts and joists in the Northern tier of the United States. It is equally hard on our neighbors to the North, Canada. Many do it yourself projects can turn out to be a nightmare. These simple projects are ones that even a monkey could do. A monkey with a credit card, that is. For a small investment of time and money anyone can reduce energy loss and possibly reduce the horrible experience... Read more →

How To Find a Good Contractor

Sunday March 04, 2012 at 8:00 am
Starting this blog is one that I’m hoping will be a good read for all those that stop by I’m sure the topics will vary, but I’m going to start it off with the “Hiring a contractor 101.” It’s time to get the word out, so that now everyone can, “Know your stuff…” Let’s face it; today’s age of business can be one of uncertainty. I’d say that is especially true with the residential construction industry, perhaps more so than any other. The reason... Read more →
